I’ve been tagged by the amazing V and Dr Socks. Here are eight random facts about me, randomly chosen by a random selection machine, accurate to within one tenth of a random.
1- I have a categorised a whole new food group under the heading ‘Food That Is Cold That Should Be Hot’. This includes potato salad, cold pasta, humous, rice salad. These items are to be avoided at all costs, as they revolt me beyond all reason. I am also a firm believer in the healthfulness of vitamins Q and Z, found in chocolate, doughnuts and sweet porridge.
2- I frequently go animal spotting around the campus of University X, where I study and work. I have seen rats, mice, grey squirrels, magpies, ducks and (perhaps) a shrew. I adore rodents, and seeing one makes my day.
3- I once appeared on television on a local news show (on slow news day, no doubt) for about thirty seconds, during my month-long employment as a living statue. Being a living statue involves standing very still, getting cold (even in August), blinking dramatically when the action cannot be avoided, and being terrorised by bratty kids who should all be grounded. I never actually saw the TV footage, as my video player decided to throw a tantrum. This was probably for the best.
4- I believe in the importance of creating new words to articulate un-named experiences. If it isn’t named, name it. Then it can be talked about.
5- I am absolutely, utterly and completely hopeless with numbers. I inevitably put them in the wrong order when transcribing them, confuse similar sounding numbers with one another (say, 76 and 67), count on my fingers, suddenly forget pin numbers and phone numbers that I have known for years, muddle up the numbers in my own address, get my age wrong and anthropomorphise numbers.
6- Speaking of age, people tend to assume that I am older than I am from my blog. This is a source of intense delight to me.
7- I am very sensitive to caffeine, which is annoying since I love drinking tea. Luckily, I have discovered roobois (sp?) tea which doesn’t have caffeine in it at all, and which can be drunk like ‘normal’ tea, with milk. I also drink decaff but I prefer not to as I am quite suspicious about it- what on earth do they have to do to it to ‘de-caffeinate’ it? I have images of all sorts of chemicals. Ick.
8- Some comments that have been made about me recently (in real life) are that my voice has ‘reserve’ in it, my hair looks like it’s from the 60s, I am quick witted and that I am capable of giving a very withering look.
Hope you enjoyed that random information. TP, M, Sophie, Amy’s Brain Today, Dreamy5, Eilidh70, Arantxa and Ms Jared may hereby consider themselves tagged
“Luckily, I have discovered roobois (sp?) tea which doesn’t have caffeine in it at all, and which can be drunk like ‘normal’ tea, with milk.”
There’s also white tea, which is from the same plant as green and black tea, but it’s processed in a way to give it very little caffeine (1% or something).

Rooibos. Like ‘red bush’.

“and which can be drunk like ‘normal’ tea, with milk”
Hee hee! For an American, milk in tea is wildly exotic. I didn’t have it until I was over 30 and most of my family has never had it at all.

Those are some great random facts! Random enough not to be too personal, but personal enough to make you feel you know Laurelin a little bit.
I also like tea, but get nervous, irritable and shaky from the caffeine. Rooibos? Will try it out.

Ah, Laurelin, you tickle me. If spotting a rodent makes your day, as long as you hang out at universities you’re sure to have lovely days every day. Universities are full of rats, you know?

I tagged you too but I don’t think you noticed. You’re obviously a popular blogger!
