Ask Laurelin: fun with search terms

Filed under: Political/ Personal, me me me and memes — Laurelin @ 11:56 pm

These are some of the (non-evil) search terms that have brought people to me. Enjoy!

Male translations on [sic] feminism
I’m pretty sure that men are capable of reading about feminism without requiring a special XX-XY translation service. We’re the same species, y’know.

why is uk and us suffering with rain
Two words: global warming.

laurelinin blogi
Any suggestions as to what this means are welcome.

me mes sheffield
Sheffield memes? People who are very ‘me me me’ in Sheffield? I need some more information, please. My memes are southern England, I’m afraid.

buy loose tea newcastle
I imagine that they sell loose tea in Newcastle. At least I don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t. Bog standard supermarket should satisfy your loose tea needs. Remember to buy fairtrade, though!

have you got a job yet excuses
Hmmm, lemme think… I haven’t got a job yet because ‘the dog ate my CV’? Or… ‘I’m about to win the lottery’?

women isn’t clothes
As we used to say in primary school before it got on everyone’s nerves. ‘10/ 10 for observation’.

“Sex is not a right”
Absolutely. Unfortunately it still needs to be said to combat nonsense about ‘involuntary cellibacy’ and other statements of entitlement. If no-one wants to have sex with you, you don’t have sex. End of. Here’s the link I think you were looking for.

speech + how to woo the opposite sex
I will tackle this banal issue in my forthcoming book from the Statetheobviouspress: How to Talk to a Human Being.

Easy Troll II
Sounds like a computer game. If it involves blasting trolls, can I play? All in the name of catharsis, obviously…

the art of writing haiku
Hurrah, someone appreciates my poetical genius… or wants to laugh at it. At any rate, here it is.

arrogant phrases
‘Everyone in the world is stupid except me’- Homer Simpson, just before falling asleep on a foam sofa with a cigar in his mouth.
‘I’m the Decider’- You know who
‘Yes, as a matter of fact the sun does shine out of my typing fingertips’- Me, just now

ARE PEOPLE WITH OCD AFRAID TO HAVE SEX
Depends on the type of OCD they have, how it manifests itself. A fear of uncleanliness, say, or of being in some way ‘perverted’ may cause a fear of sex. However, it could equally be that the OCD person just doesn’t want sex- ‘fear’ and ‘inhibition’ are words used to extort sex from women who for whatever reason (and the reason is irrelevent) don’t want sex. See above under “sex is not a right”.

radical feminists and religious fundamen[talists]
Chalk and cheese, no matter what the antifeminists on the left may say. Here’s why.

america`s newt top model
I wasn’t aware that amphibians lived in a patriarchy too.

arantxa blog
Here she is!

TO KNOW A TROLL YOU HAVE TO BE A TROLL
In a word, no. In several words, I know what lettuce is, but that does not make me a lettuce, capiche? I also know foul abusive misogynistic idiots when I see them, and I do not myself fall under that category.

  5. I can shed light: “Laurelinin blogi” is Finnish for Laurelin’s blog, and may even be somehow related to my linking to you because I sometimes write about Finland and Finnish design.
