Laurelin in the Rain

A fragment

Filed under: Beauty is the beast — Laurelin @ 10:24 pm

the power to please
is not a power:: no power
is powerful that relies
upon the goodwill
or the charity
of another:: it will not

change the world
nor strengthen nor increase
the tiny piece
of land beneath our feet
the power to please
is nothing:: the power to

to be displeased and for that
displeasure to change the world
in some small way
that is everything

it means we are standing
flat footed with some ground
to call our own:: our displeasure
counting for something
in the world
