Radical blogging for fun day

Filed under: Getting fluffy with it — Laurelin @ 8:51 pm

I have a confession to make: I’m not very good at blogging fun.

Don’t get me wrong, I like to think I’m fun in real life. I hope so. It could be that any joke I make always falls flat and that all of my friends are to polite to say so, but I’m pretty sure that I can produce fun in some social contexts.

(See? I’ve just written ’social contexts’ in a post that’s meant to be fun. Someone send me a can of Loosen Up Already).

But blogging? I’m more along the lines of here’s-what-I’m-thinking-and-you-better-believe-I’m-pissed-off-with-you-buster, or if-I-hear-that-crap-one-more-time-I-swear-I’ll-throw-an-object-throwing-tantrum. And I like to use dashes!

So, in the name of trying to be a fun blogger, I went to the park, and found myself squirrel watching. I love squirrels. These particular squirrels were playing a game called ‘let’s chase each other up and down the trees!’ I’m not sure of the rules of the game exactly, and I was almost certainly too heavy and clumsy to join in, but they did agree to pose for some pictures.

  2. Laurelin, your post has reminded me of how much I too enjoy squirrel watching.

Whether they intend to or not, squirrels provide a wonderful public service. Last year when I was feeling very low I would go to Russell Square with a bag of nuts and sit there until I could just about face my life again. The squirrels would pick nuts up off the ground, come over and snatch them out of my hand or climb all over me leaving tiny little mudded paw prints on my clothes. I enjoyed watching the lean squirrels bury their nuts and the well-padded ones eat theirs on the spot, sometimes while seated on my knee. Peanuts were yuk and hazels were yum.

  3. I think your fun. Just because you do angry so well doesn’t mean you’re not fun! And I love these pictures-the squirrels are adorable, and that tree is gorgeous.

And don’t feel badly, for Blog for Radical Fun Day, I almost did a post about trying new foods I’ve never tasted before-exotic things like pears and plums. Just typing that makes me feel sad. I’ve been very sheltered.

So I love your post. :)

  5. You’re fun hunny!

And I appreciate your squirrel post. I like to watch small animals run about too, and can sometimes see squirrels running up and down the tree in my garden. Yesterday I saw a shrew running back and forth collecting bird seed. Ah, sitting still is it’s own reward x

  8. We do not have squirrels in NZ. They look little and cute and…. ‘munchy’. I love the little hands.

Thanks for sharing the awesome photos.
